Here is information needed to play our releases. ^.^
• Why won’t this file play?

Q:Why won’t this file play? – Up
A: Operating System: Windows | Mac OS X – Option 1, Option 2
Windows:
You will need to install CCCP. This codec pack includes Media Player Classic (MPC) and Zoomplayer.
1. Install CCCP. (Uninstall K-lite and previous CCCP installations first)
2. During configuration leave the default settings unless you know what you are doing. Then, choose Media Player Classic or Zoomplayer for .mkv, .mp4, and .ogm playback.
3. Open the C:Program FilesCombined Community Codec PackMPC or C:Program FilesCombined Community Codec PackZoomplayer directory. (may be different if you installed CCCP into a custom directory)
4. Right click the .exe then select create shortcut.
5. Now double click the icon on your desktop. MPC and Zoomplayer will now be able to play Anime-RG’s releases.
Mac OS X:
Install Mplayer for MKV playback. VLC is not recommended…
Option 1 – by RH
1. Download Mplayer OS X 1.0rc1 (or newest) and install as usual.
2. Open Terminal (located in /Applications/Utilities)
3. If you have already run Mplayer then it should already have created the .mplayer directory so type the following in Terminal and press return:
cd .mplayer
If you haven’t run Mplayer yet then type the following in Terminal and press return:
mkdir .mplayer
cd .mplayer
4. Once you are inside the .mplayer directory (in Terminal) we need to choose a default font. If you want Japanese characters to be displayed you need to choose a Japanese font. Type the following in Terminal and press return:
ln -s /Library/Fonts/华文楷体.ttf subfont.ttf
5. Then we need to edit the Mplayer config to allow it to use the fonts specified in the anime file and not just default to the subfont.ttf specified above. Type the following in Terminal and press return:
nano -w config
Enter the following below any existing lines (there will only be existing lines if you’ve run Mplayer before):
ass=yes
embeddedfonts=yes
correct-pts=yes
sid=0
Hold down the ctrl key and tap the letter “o” then press return to save the file. Hold down the ctrl key and tap “x” to exit.
6. Play your file in Mplayer. Tap the letter “j” to cycle between subtitle tracks and off. (Mplayer will now play your files with fancy subs and will only fall back on the subfont.ttf for display of Japanese characters.)
Option 2 – by TheFluff
1. Download and install the OFFICIAL MPlayer build for MacOS X.
2. Start it.
3. Go to Preferences (it should be under the apple or the file menu).
4. Find a textbox marked “additional parameters” or something like it, it should be under the additional tab IIRC.
5. In it, type the following:
-ass -embeddedfonts -correct-pts -sid 0
6. Watch the mkv. (you may or may not need to add -fontconfig to the list of additional parameters. Try with and without and see what works best for you.)

*Notes*
Both options ONLY work on Mac OS X 10.4+ (Tiger). For Mac OS X 10.3.9 (Panther), you will need to install an older version or a SVN. Video/subtitles playing too fast is a known issue caused by Mplayer not correctly configured. Try installing a SVN version if both options don’t fix that issue. Also, note that both options may break Mplayer. If videos won’t play anymore just delete Mplayer and reinstall. Also note that older PPC macs will need to use older versions or SVN releases of Mplayer…
Q: I have CCCP installed, but it still doesn’t play? – Up
A: Sometimes codecs get bugged or you may have an old version of CCCP installed. Please uninstall CCCP then reinstall it. (Uninstall k-lite or you will have codec conflicts)
Q: I have CCCP installed, but it still doesn’t show subtitles? – Up
A: You are using an old version of CCCP. You will need to update your CCCP installation. Please uninstall CCCP then reinstall it. (Uninstall k-lite or you will have codec conflicts)
Q: Do these files play on Windows Vista? – Up
A: Yes, they do. Upgrade your CCCP. The latest release of CCCP is Vista compatible.
Q: I like VLC but it isn’t playing properly! – Up
A: The files should play in VLC but the subtitles will be broken half of the time. Anime-RG uses .ass softsubs. Unfortunately, VLC shreds the font information of softsubs then plays it using the built-in parameters. This is why font styling and even timing can display incorrectly in VLC. Media Player Classic or Mplayer are the recommended media players.
Q: My computer can’t play these files?! – Up
A: Anime-RG uses the h264 codec in a mkv container. If you are using a pentium 3 or older CPU, please update your computer. That technology has been out since 2000 which means that it is definitely OLD. Most standard definition and high definition files can be played on an AMD/P4 2.0+ ghz/512mb-1gb ram computer. /shrug
